The Idea of You

This spawned from a phrase that i heard and liked, hope you enjoy.

We’re just friends, that’s all it is,

But I wish that it was more.

I’ve only known you a little while,

But never felt this way before.

 

I like the idea of holding your hand,

And walking around the lake.

Or sitting on a bench laughing away,

As if love were a piece of cake.

 

I like the idea of driving with you,

When there’s no place for us to be.

Or sharing secrets and inside jokes,

To be kept between you and me

 

I like the idea of dancing with you,

Anytime it happens to rain.

Or doing something special just for you,

With no thought of personal gain.

 

I like the idea of being with you,

Without having to explain why.

Or talking late into the night,

As time quickly flashes by.

 

Alas, this is all in my head,

I just wish these things were all true.

I guess I don’t know you that well,

But I still like the idea of you.

Wow.. such a great flow and feeling coming from this writing.. fresh and young feeling too! This is a nice spring writing as this is when many grow feelings toward others ... spring fever is in the air.. Thank you for sharing and inspiring me and keep it up! =)
