A Christmas Challenge

A Christmas Challenge

A Poem by Jolly Jake
"

Shouldn't this season last longer?

"

Here we are: after another Christmas,

and a month or so of joy and giving.

Will we spiral down like we have before,

or can we keep this as a way of living?

Thanks, love, and hope is all around us,

and it’s the reason for all of our joy.

Just because we stop giving gifts,

it doesn’t end the season in every girl and boy.

It’s the giving of love that really matters,

so hold open the door for the stranger.

Help the elderly lady carry her bags,

and remember the baby, in the manger.

The baby that gave his life full of love,

to all of us who didn’t deserve it.

His memory doesn’t deserve to be lost,

so as you take down the tree, beautifully lit,

and the holidays slowly fade,

don’t forget to keep all the love,

and share it with the rest of the world.

Because our father that watches from above,

will never cease to lavish his love.

Yes, the meaning of this piece is what counts. We always think of others during the holidays but what about the rest of the year? This is a wonderful write to remind us to look out for and care for others. Strangers, friends, children, elderly, and loved ones. To give them a little bit of your heart..
It only takes a little time and effort and it means the world to the receiver. And I am sure, to the giver.

Thoughtful ink! :p
