A Chance, Please?

A Chance, Please?

A Poem by Jolly Jake
"

An honest question

"

Leave behind the status quo,

There is fun to be had, you’ll see.

Come on, I’m ready to go,

Just hold your breath and follow me.

Don’t do what society does,

I think they do it all wrong.

I’ll show you the way it was,

How it should have been all along.

Commitment's not what I’m saying,

You won’t hear me say “I love you.”

The reason that I’ll be paying,

Its just the gentleman’s thing to do.

Please give me a chance, for my sake,

I’m a little crazy but not insane.

Here’s a risk I’m willing to take,

Nothing to lose, but plenty to gain.

So leave behind all the status quo,

There is fun to be had, you’ll see.

Come on, I’m ready to go,

Just hold your breath and follow me.

Oh this is cute! I like this one. Totally sounds what I wanted from some guy years ago when we first started to decide if we were dating or not. Amazing. Very adorable.

I love this poem! The rhythm and rhyme scheme flows really well. Your second to last stanza was my favorite:
"Please give me a chance, for my sake,
I'm a little crazy but not insane.
Here's a risk I'm willing to take,
Nothing to lose, but plenty to gain..."

:)
One little picky thing is that in your third stanza, you say "commitments not what..." I think you should add an apostrophe. Otherwise it seems like you're reffering to the plural form of commitment; I was struggling to understand what you meant until I realized you meant "commitment's not..."

Great poem! :)
