A House in the Woods

A House in the Woods

A Poem by Natalia
"

"The last bell rings and she starts the journey home/ But as she fills with worry, she starts to roam."

"

The long walk to school was hopeful and sweet,

Like fresh summer days basking in the heat.

It was her favorite time of day all to herself,

Picking wildflowers as she skipped, and looking for elves.

She arrives at school and the day begins,

As the weather shifts and the clouds roll in.

The last bell rings and she starts the journey home,

But as she fills with worry, she starts to roam.

Time passes quickly and the sun starts to sink,

She must return before sunset turns the sky pink.

The woods become thicker as her house appears,

The grass is long and the paint chipping after many years.

She goes inside and sees the faces of the other girls,

One’s crying, one’s praying, one clutches her mother’s pearls.

The night swims around them as the sun takes a dive,

Now all they can do is sit and wait for her parents to arrive.

They walk through the door and the girls hold their breath,

And when the morning comes, hope theirs is not the next death.

This is a wonderful work.
I want to know if it is based on a real story.
The story touches the heart.
