Day threeA Chapter by yesiOur third day began the sun rose while cars went past. My sister, shadow, and I awoke. She was hungry and tired I could see it in her eyes. Yet she never complained, her face was either blank or stiff, she almost never smiled. She was skinny, pale skin, and I was never sure if she ever got bullied at school. Shadow’s stomach growled, yet she still didn’t complain, I put down a big green suitcase and opened it. I offered some trail mix. She grabbed it and ate it as slow as she could. We walked for what seemed miles by the road. Everyone suddenly got out of their cars and started walking from every angle. The traffic suddenly ended everyone went too fast and left us behind entering a city practically abandoned. The last car was a silver van we decided to hot wire. My sister looked into the future and saw how I originally started it. She instructed me through the whole thing. We hopped in, me in the front, while she went in the back. We found some old clothes and a little amount of food. We used the old clothes as blankets and pillows in the back. My sister studied me while driving, using her perfect memory to learn how to drive. She only drove when I took small naps. Whenever we ate it was in small portions since we only had granola bars, cereal, chips, water, and soda. We stopped only to go to the bathroom. We decided to go into an abandoned mall. All the windows and doors were either smashed or open. I looked at shadow as she was getting out of the car,” So everything’s free shadow get whatever you want well if their is anything” her eyes started to sparkle as she ran off. I planned to look for food and began to search. Only sixteen days left until the end. © 2016 yesi |
