The Circus

The Circus

A Poem by Rachel Knight
"

An incomplete poem from several years ago.

"

one-thousand years from now,

human expression

will be wholly different,

today's communication archaic.

and every thought will spring forward in a stream of numbered data

(neither visual nor phonetic)

fully compatible with all human systems,

communicated easily and held back even easier.

Look the center of the ring, ladies and gentlemen!

as an artist balances a painting brush on the very tips of two fingers!

a score of layers make one color

there's no html tag for that one, ladies and gents!

Like I said, this is thusfar unfinished. It definitely needs at least two more stanzas to complete the rhythm and balance everything out.

But ! You have said it all.
This little piece is enough to over-work
the active mind for the next week , at least.
We are in the kindergarten of communication.
The computer is becoming old fashioned, competition
is fierce and the New Frontier is just waiting to
swallow those of us who do not keep up.
Thank you for another look into the
Brave New World.
