Oh Horror, Put A Smile Upon Thy Face

Oh Horror, Put A Smile Upon Thy Face

A Poem by Aimee Robinson
"

Three memories of my childhood gathered together into a piece of frightful humor.

"

Oh Horror, Put A Smile Upon Thy Face

dear memories,

stop hiding

under my bed

like the monster

who resembled

the queen in Sleeping Beauty

(i don’t remember her name)

when i was

7-years-old.

she hovered

menacingly

like the cold

who consumed

Katie’s backyard

while we limbered in our sleep

(or tried)

atop the itchy black trampoline.

he grinned and said,

“shiver, you inept human being!”

like those iota red peppers

who entranced me

by their

diminutive form.

i crushed

the small being

with my yellowish teeth,

pride and power

hinting under my breath.

then it collapsed.

that one drop,

light as a microscopic piece of creation

and thick

as your mother’s blood

engulfed me

into a trance.

oh, horror

how i love thee.

No in depth analysis here. Just good ol' imagery. Fun and well done!
