The World Behind My Eyes

The World Behind My Eyes

A Poem by Aimee Robinson

This is a metaphor poem. Random objects whom I see myself as.

The World Behind My Eyes

I am the book left open under the bed
with dust gathering on its cover.
My pages are stained yellow
and torn from the years
left unknown.

I am the half empty box
of Cinnamon Toast Crunch
in the corner of the cupboard
forgotten by everyone.

I am the ripped Levi jeans
full of holes and dirt stains
shoved to the back of the drawer
never to be put on again.

I am the old Converse shoes
thrown in the back of the closet
among the brand new Nikes and Reeboks
waiting to be worn once more.

I am the thread in the needle
lying on the antique wooden table
waiting to be stitched
into something beautiful.

This was very sad. The feeling of being forgotten is a horrible feeling. You expressed it perfectly. Very well written and great poem! :)

Yes sometimes we all have this feeling of like getting abandoned and never even known to exist..
Like an old book left gathering dust on its covers..its pages stained yellow and torn from over the years
Like some tattered clothes full of holes and dirt stains shoved to the back of drawer never to be touched again
yes thats how we feel sometimes..but its our strength to always be mobile and active ,and be real mover
winners and not losers..we got creative minds to always give life to our life,to always feel new and refreshed
I could go on forever..Ohh how it gave me lots of thoughts
lovely write
