The Candle Figurine

The Candle Figurine

A Poem by T.Y.N.P.

Precious, precious, dainty thing,

you dance a knife’s edge

when you flare into existence.

You play with fire,

and smile at the sun.

You come hairsbreadth

from death

more times than you

can ever count.

You grow, blossom, spring

into emotion, motion,

and fanatical feelings.

You should not be snuffed out,

when you have to bring

into this world your own

little say in how you see

the sky, and everything beneath it.

You have the ability

to make shapes

out of shadows,

You have the power

to warm, create, and destroy

in equal measure

this universe and countless others.

So, why would you ever think

it is okay

to burn at both ends,

to melt

before your time?

In my own interpretation of this poem, it has a sinister vibe to it and it sounds like something out of a movie of mind games and told from a double agent's perspective.
