Words Unspoken

By

Jose M. Euvin

Maybe I should have asked

Maybe you should have told me

I love to watch you sleep

So peaceful in your bed

I long to hear you speak

So many things unsaid

“Grab your things and pack”

Was the last you said

Bring peace into my life

And take the pain away

Maybe I’ll say

“I love you”

And hope to hear it back

Maybe I’ll try to hold you

And relieve our past

Life is not what I expected

Our journey wasn’t long

Your love I have neglected

I never meant to do you wrong

There you lay asleep

Your life has come to pass

I gently kiss your lips

And close your dreamy eyes

I’ll leave you now

For good

As your wake has come to pass

I’ll give you one last kiss

And burn it with our past

I leave you now

With words unspoken

Quite sad. Too bad that we don't know what we have........when we have it. Sometimes we just need to.....let it burn....

Touching. Gripping.

has a very lyrical lullaby sound as far as the rhythm goes, very sing songy.

Well felt and penned. You did a wonderful job at relaying your deep feelings and capturing your heart in words. Truly an excellent write.

You get the sad and fleeting feeling of this goodbye - but you wonder why words were unspoken? Was it because it would not have mattered to the outcome or is there something in her words unspoken too. I have learned that it is so important to communicate how you feel because even when you think someone knows you, they don't always know you... if this love was meant to be, it will come around again.

This is really good. & sad too. It hurts to walk away from someone you love like that. It's something you'll probably never forget. But very good! I love this one!

Nicely written, timing is everything they say, and all the should haves and would haves unsaid.

This is very sad! Why??? I've never understood how people justify walking away from a loved one without explanation and it is never a case of 'I don't know why' that would be the lie that causes the pain. You say a lot here in very few words that, unfortunately, happens all too often with at least one broken heart involved.
Good one, though it kind of stopped where I thought something could have been added to round it off a little more...

A truly sad write. it's a painful thought to lose someone forever without telling them how you really felt. we hide how we feel to often and in the end it will only cause pain. beautifully sad write

If there be grief, then let it be but rain, And this but silver grief for grieving's sake, If these green woods be dreaming here to wake Within my heart, if I should rouse again. But I shall sleep, .. more..
