Unspoken Words

Unspoken Words

A Poem by Jackson Yang
"

The poem itself is just about life and the choices that we decide to make or not make. It speaks of what we are not willing to say to ourselves let alone to the world. For everyone else they may have other things that hold them back, but this was just a s

"

They say these words provoke the fire within that creates our drive
They say these words stir the passion of our desires waiting to exhale
The mere mention from within brings forth the questions we always wish to ask
Can these unspoken words take back the days we can no longer have back

From the gestures that tell all with just a single swing
To the movement of the body that tells of all life’s sins
What cannot be said is echoed farther than our fears
The constant battle from all that we choose not to share

The struggle to hold within the blatant words of honest tears
Holding back with fear, knowing you cannot speak without care
But constantly wondering if I should really fear
For those honest words will show I truly care

But what I speak is not just of gestures and signs
What truly goes unspoken are the lies we hold within

The worries that come when you leave your families side
Will they make it back the same as last time
Or are we doomed to see the future we dream of each time
Can this worry ever cease so we can ease our mind

To the regrets we hold because of the decision that we made
Keeping it close even as life has made the day
Wondering whether that choice will ever come again
Never knowing was that really the last time I had to make it come again

To the friends we hold close even as despair rears its ugly head
Never wanting to say goodbye for they were the best of kin
Yet losing the foundation that built the friendship so strong
Is it really worth keeping the friends that are no longer friends at all

To the final tears we shed for the love we cannot let go
Holding on so close to someone that will never come or go
But keeping a faith as life slowly lets go
Even as the tears continue to flow for the love we cannot let go

Yet for some who have the love that still continues to grow
Even as the regrets try to show
Living the fairy tale that only Cinderella knew so
But staying alive as if destiny had already let go

Those many times where not even a whisper can be said
Holds so much that we choose not to deliver again
But those words that hold the messages we need to send
Cannot be held in as long as we want to fight off the worries from within

Hiding behind the mask that shows nothing but smiles
Can only bring tears that will eventually lead to our sorrow
Will you ever learn from the past that holds back the day of tomorrow

Can you sit there and not say a word as your family leaves again
Can you ever let go of the regrets that force your world to the darkness within
Will you ever say goodbye to the friends that have never been friends
Will you finally say goodbye to the love that will never begin
Can you finally become someone worth the love that will eventually begin

The questions that you ask will decide the path that you will take
Will you finally be free and let go of destiny’s stake
