A Map For The Broken Heart-Part 1 - Of Gustav....Autocrat and Anti-llectualA Poem by Michael HandelThis is supposed to be a tribute to absurdity, death, oxymorons....and of course..dancing."I. The reflection in his tomb was a gift left by those who loved him so as to not confuse him upon his return to the constraints of mortality Running in fields we walk barefoot and alone In his death Gustav would have found it necessary to expound on the "deeper" meaning and significance of life And only he, he would know Of Gustav, when he was.....alive(?) it is said, that he so loved his reflection that he would dance in celebration, not for what he saw, but for what he did not And behold; in spite of snow He built a cairn, an allusion to his plight....instead, people danced in rebellion, entranced by the pyre's light We danced all night....We danced alone © 2008 Michael Handel |
