Widow Draped in Wrath

Widow Draped in Wrath

A Poem by Michael Handel
"

Heroin/addiction...metaphorically speaking.

"

Widow Draped in Wrath

Widow draped in wrath

Pretty in slow motion

Vibrant while still

Ensnared when grasped by her hand

Solemn beauty is her potion

To speak of the affair is to speak of death

Her silence is twice as potent

The reflection she casts is gorgeous and perfect

When it is she who is judging

But in your translation it never lasts

Flee from her imposing shadow and into her tempting embrace

The beauty veiled in sadness. I think that is why I have always been drawn to songs in minor keys - that aching beauty is a powerful emotion magnet. I'm not sure if you mean a widow literally or not, but
if it is a metaphor for something else - I see no real implications of what - except your funny comment
at the top about heroin and you said that was a joke and I believe you. To speak of the affair is to speak of death - I interpret this as a respect - to speak of the affair would be like slander to the dead - you just don't do such as that. I'm a widow - I guess for someone to say there is beauty in that makes me curious as to what they see. I keep getting this image of a man comforting this widow in a romantic way - being emotionally drawn to do so - blah - I'm making no sense. OK, I liked the poem - good job. (maybe I should have just said that)
