Cherry Socks

I had the random idea to write about cherry socks because they make me happy.

I have cherry socks

They’re black and have red cherries on them

I wear them to make me feel better

I wore them on my birthday

I took a picture with the sun hitting them

And sent it to my best friend 

Who lives in Illinois

Sometimes I’m embarrassed of them,

So I hide them with my pants.

But I also,

I want to show them off to the world

So I cuff my jeans 

Show them my cherry socks 

It’s cherry socks and me against the world

So what if my birthday was lonely?

I got socks. That’s all that matters. 

So what if my mom was too busy for me?

All I need is my cherry socks and music.

On my 13th birthday.
