The Voyage

Upon this endless sea, a lowly boat sets sail,
carrying a wide-eyed child: in itself, a curious tale.
With nothing but compass, with nothing but her wit,
she travels through the unexplored whose roads the stars have lit.

The water is a mirror of the heaven's many sighs,
a wondrous world to discover, a sea of stars and infinite skies.
She gazes into this paradise and her heart skips a beat,
    enthralled by its splendor for nothing's just as sweet.    

Slowly-ever so slowly-she bends down to the deep,
longing to claim the stars as forever hers to keep.
    And yet unsurely-ever so unsurely-she draws her hand away    
for they're not hers to possess, and it's bound to stay that way.
