Reflection of an Unfamilliar Face

Reflection of an Unfamilliar Face

A Poem by Commander S.T

They say beauty is in the eyes of the beholder

Is this the way that its suppposed to be?

Wondering to herself if thats what she wants to be

She is the beholder but the beauty is not in her eyes

Its left in the eyes of the wreckers

Those who tell you what you dont want to hear at the moment that it shouldnt be said

" Am I beautiful ? "

" No I look like s**t."

Though the day goes on she looks at herself and wants to be beautiful

The look still isnt in her eyes

Its stuck in the reflection of this mirror

A mirror that she doesnt see her own reflection but see's a face thats unfamilliar to others but is seen to her everyday

" Am I beautiful ? "

" Yes. You are as beautiful as...you want to be "

She now looks in the mirror and stares at what everybody see's

She see's the reflection of a beautiful girl

And now she can say that her beauty is in the eyes of the beholder

excellent piece. I like how it evolves from beginning to end. A very poignant and personal exploration and reflection. Nice writing.
