MEMORIES ...

MEMORIES ...

A Poem by Roy
"

Inspired by a song called "Halud Pakhi" by Cactus, a pop/light rock band from Calcutta, India. If you know the tune, you can hum along ... it's set in the original music itself..

"

Lovebirds on the branch

Of the same old tree of mirth,

Sang ballads to each other

In a morn of yonder years

In a brutal storm they lost the race,

And the smile was wiped from the child's face ...

Will the days return, the joy that's gone?

Those wonder years, oh oh!

Will the days return, the joy that's gone?

Those wonder years, once more!

The boatswain old and chirpy,

The waters clear and blue,

On the Unicorn of Eden

My heart rode straight to you ...

Love is blind, She lost Her way,

My princess parted on an eve in May ...

Will the days return, the dream that's gone?

Those wonder years, oh oh!

Will the days return, the dream that's gone?

Those wonder years, once more!

Hunting for the treasures

That the palace ruins did hold,

The horizon did beckon

The child in Her fold ...

Till the floods wiped Her straight away,

In vain I search for Her today ...

Will the days return, the joy that's gone?

Those wonder years, oh oh!

Will the days return, the joy that's gone?

Those wonder years, once more!

Will the days return, the days of yon??

Those wonder years, once more!

this poem is a very light way to relay a very deep meaning.

wonderfully executed.

Very breezy. I literally felt the ocean breeze as I read through this. I can imagine this being sung, and I think it would sound beautiful. As others have said. Very well-written, and thanks for sharing.

That was a beautifully written poem. yes at times it seems it would be nice to return to those years of innocence when everything was much simpler. Thank you for sharing! : )

Would have like to hear this read out. Think this would enhance the repetitive lines. Nicely written. Good work.

Aww, such a soft and delicate structure to the poem. It was sad yet it captured me from the beginning to the end. Thank you so much for sharing it. xxxx

Nice flow and brilliant structure. The tone is haunting and evocative, nostalgic and sad; the characterisation nearly surreal but vivid. The imagery is highly picturesque, and the rhetoric fiercely bitting, with a spite of anger and ... could that be regret? How I, too, also wonder for those lost years ...
