The incident

My name is Rio. Rio Feuer. And I am unwillingly a superhuman. Well, everyone in Fairmont City is superhuman. All because of that damn explosion. Let me explain, I live in a city where factories and science labs are on every corner. Experiments are always going on and there have been a few mistakes, this one being the worst. The latest project the scientists were working on was a pill. Not just any ordinary pill though, a pill that gave you super powers. Their goal was to make everyone take a pill and have amazing powers to show off for the purpose of entertainment.

Many people thought it was crazy, but that didn't stop them. They created a machine that went through the process of making the pill. But one little mishap made the whole thing go wrong... One of the scientists dropped their phone into the machine, and it the machine malfunctioned. The gears stopped and sparks started flying out from the wires. Due to the sparks, the fire sprinklers in the building went off, making the machine explode. 

The explosion was so big that the whole city was affected. All the buildings shook and it suddenly was hard to breathe.

The stench of smoke and chemicals in the air took over the oxygen. We were all fighting to breathe. Everything... was so... blurry. I grasped my throat, unable to get any air at all. As my back slammed against the concrete, my vision slowly started fading to black. When I woke up, I was in my dorm room. Bringing us to now.

Cool writing style. Very easy to read. It's almost like a TV show, a fun TV show. Now I''m wondering what Rio's superpower is. And there must be some bad guys, right? I think you got a good setup for a cool story.
