P.S. I Love You

P.S. I Love You

A Poem by caitlin

Dear most beloved,

It has occurred to me
That I have yet to speak to you
The words I’ve been meaning to say
For oh so very long now.
You see,
There’s a small secret
That I’ve managed to keep hidden from you
For many year now…
Perhaps I am wrong to say it is a small secret,
The truth is
It is indeed a very big secret.
I’m sure you could easily guess
What it is that I’d like to tell you
By the way I have addressed you in this letter.
Yes, you are indeed my “most beloved.”
The fact is
There is nobody in this world
That I could ever possibly love
As much as I love you.
When I close my eyes at night
It is your beautiful face
That appears before me in my dreams.
I have recently come to realize
That I simply can no longer live without you.
I truly do need you in my life.
My beloved,
I hope you understand how much you mean to me.
You see,
To me you are like water,
Or perhaps shelter,
Two things that are absolutely necessary
For one to survive.
If I am to go on living,
If I am to survive the ache of my heart,
Then I will need you by my side.
For more many years now
I have had these feelings,
And only for you.
Perhaps I did not hide the secret
So well as I thought.
Perhaps you did in fact know,
Or perhaps thought maybe I loved you
Simply by the way I looked at you,
By the way I spoke to you,
And so tenderly held you in my arms,
Back in those days when we were only friends.
whether you knew or not
Now you may know for sure
That it is indeed true,
That I have these feelings for you.

Sincerely,
Your most beloved.

And oh
My most beloved,
P.S. I love you.

Wow!! What an excellent poem- you wrap it up with a hint of sweetness and tenderness in the last several lines. Good job!!!

This is pretty intense. I hope the recipient would be aware of the sender (if that's the aim), because it's signed "your most beloved", and as it's the first time that this person has admitted these feelings, the addressee won't be aware of the writer's name!
