Taxi DriverA Poem by caitlin
Remember the night
We confessed our love To one another? It was raining that night, Tears were pouring From the clouds above As we left the theater Unaware of how one felt about the other. We were going to walk home, But you began to shiver In the cold of the tear drops Falling from somewhere in the sky. Remember the taxi driver, The way he looked in the rearview mirror And smiled an innocent smile As we silently confessed our love To one another With a simple, yet passionate kiss. You could see his thoughts in his eye, “Two young lovers, Just beginning to find themselves.” He never said a word, Just held his smile And turned his eyes Back to the rain soaked road ahead. I remember clear as day light, That night that our love was confessed. I remember the minutes we spent Wrapped in one another’s arms, Safe from the crying sky, Under the roof of a taxi In the presence of a taxi driver Who came to know our story without words, But would never tell. I remember the hours we spent Letting the words finally slip out, I remember the kisses we shared, And the moments that made us one. Remember the night We confessed our love To one another? It was raining that night, Tears were pouring From the clouds above As we left the theater Unaware of how one felt about the other. We were going to walk home, But you began to shiver In the cold of the tear drops Falling from somewhere in the sky. © 2011 caitlinAuthor's Note
