Say the Words

Say the Words

A Poem by caitlin

Fear is a treacherous
And torturing feeling.
Often it is nothing more
That an illusion
Created within our minds,
A trick played by our eyes
Or our ears,
By our sense of touch,
Perhaps even by smell or taste,
But most of all
It is a trick that our heart
Plays on our mind,
Especially when it comes to love.

I love her,
I know I love her.
There is no way to deny
How I feel about her.
But I can’t tell her,
And it’s all because of fear.

I know there’s something there,
I know there always has been.
I know I can tell,
I know she’ll accept it,
I know she wouldn’t run away
That’s not the issue.
The issue is fear.

My head and my heart
They keep fighting for me
Trying to defeat fear,
But it’s a battle they can not win.
They keep telling me to just say the words,
But the words will not become
And it’s all because of fear.

Fear is a traitorous
And torturing feeling.
Often it is nothing more
That an illusion
Created within our minds,
A trick played by our eyes
Or our ears,
By our sense of touch,
Perhaps even by smell or taste,
But most of all
It is a trick that our heart
Plays on our mind,
Especially when it comes to love.
