I Need You to Survive

I Need You to Survive

A Poem by caitlin

My heart flutters
Like a butterfly flapping it’s wings
Endlessly,
Tirelessly.

It hurts like hell
This damn fluttering,
And my breath catches
Somewhere deep in my throat.

I need you
Like water and oxygen.
Without you I can not breath
And my heart cries out.

I can’t take not being with you,
Can’t live with the distance between us.
I want nothing more that tell you “I love you,”
I want nothing more than to hold you in my arms.

I hate to think
That my chances with you are not,
Hate to think
What life will be like without you.

I need you
If I am to survive,
If my heart is going to continue to beat
And air is going to continue to escape my dying lungs.

I swear I’d hold you forever,
If only I could.
I Swear that I’ll never stop loving you,
Even if I must forever live without you.

I promise
That no day will go by
That you won’t be on my mind,
That you won’t be in my heart.

I need you
Because I love you,
And what am I to do
With the love I have for you
If I can not share it with you?
