Alive and Kicking

Alive and Kicking

A Poem by caitlin

You try to take it all away.
You try to take my love,
You try to take my dreams,
You try to take my life.
You try to take it all away,
But I’m still alive and kicking.

You can not have it all.
You can not have my love,
You can not have my dreams,
You can not  have my life.
You can not have it all,
Because I will forever be alive and kicking.

You have no power over me.
You have not the power to steal away my love,
Nor the power to steal away my dreams,
And certainly not the power to steal away my life.
You have no power over me,
So long as I am alive and kicking.

I can’t help but wonder
Why it is that you try so hard
To take from me
My love, my dreams, and my life
When you know so well
That I will always be alive and kicking.
