Forget What You Know and Fall

Forget What You Know and Fall

A Poem by Christie

To make sense of what it means to be alive
You've got to forget the equations you were taught
In a school system that you watched fall apart,
and it'll never be like it is in the movies--
Love and sex are not meant to be.
I've fell in love and never longed for a kiss,
I've been naked while fully clothed,
and I've danced beneath a full moon rejected by wolves.
Kiss your mind against my lips.
Then kiss all of the things you miss.
I'll never settle again, for less than this.
This--this quiet understanding,
The touch that can be felt without contact,
and when skin does brush skin,
the heart does not beat faster,
does not quiver, nor shake,
just beats as it was always meant to.
Love is not a rush.
Love is everything but.
It's the moment you forget you're there.
And the moment you wouldn't want to go anywhere
but here,
             here,
                    here.

A quiet loving kind of poem.
Acceptance.
The last couple of lines say it all, just being
here, here, here, here.
Great poem and a beautiful philosophy of
love.

Thank you for your comment.
:-)
i like this a lot. there are some great lines and phrases.
"i've been naked while fully clothed"
"the touch that can be felt without contact"
this is a poem about a part of love that's not often considered. not the heat and passion. just the quiet, self-assured peacefulness of loving and being loved.
