Chapter 3A Chapter by Mimi.mm..you find out more about the characters.I smiled at Linda when we got to the entrance of the cafeteria.
"There you go hun." She adorned a warming smile.
"Thank you." I gave a slight smile as she walked back down the hallway.
I looked in the cafeteria, it reminded me of high school and cliques. I spotted my roomates sitting at a table with 2 other people I did not know. I slowly walked to their table. As I got closer, everybody looked at me with awkward curious looks.
"Where were you?!" Zoie asked, worry about to penetrate her sweet voice.
"I..uhm..took a wrong turn." I lied once again.
"Oh gosh, did you go into Sector B?! Oh goodness are you ok?" She bit her lip as her face slowly got pale.
"Sector what..?" I asked curiously.
"Sector B..where the really crazy people are. You know..straight jackets and stuff." She explained in a low whisper, was she keeping this secret from somebody?
"Oh." I blushed with embarrassment.
That means Spencer was visiting somebody..very sick. I felt bad now, like a nosy nelly. But there was no harm intended, I was just curious. I heard somebody at the table sniffling as i sat down.
"Can we please stop talking about Sector B?" Addrianna pleaded.
I looked down and whispered a sorry. Everybody at the table looked away from Addrianna wiping her tears away. Zoie put her arm around her and tried to comfort her. I suddenly felt emotions running through me as I remembered the last time I cried...
My cheeks cradled so many tears, I gasped and choked inbetween cries of fear. My mother banged at my locked door.
"June..why?!" My mother yelled from the other side of the door.
I frantically searched under my bed for a sharp item. I pulled out a sharp rigid peice of broken plastic. I held the weapon centimeters from my already scarred wrist. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. Suddenly my door slammed open and I saw my mom standing in the doorway with a screwdriver. I looked at her through my tears and gave her a frown. I slowly pulled the partical of plastic across my wrist. I opened my mouth to make a screaming noise from my pain. Through my choked breath and flowing tears I saw my mother drop the screwdriver and quickly pick up the phone.
....
I held back stinging tears. I sat down at the table in silence for the next 30 minutes. I had lost track of time here easily. Zoie tapped me on the back, signaling me that we had to leave.
"Why do we have to leave?" I curiously wondered.
"Because Sector B is having their lunch about now." She said sounding scared.
"Oh. Ok."
And she was right. As we started to walk away from the cafeteria, tons of teens adults and children walked in. I spotted Spencer in the crowd. I stopped walking to see why he was going in with Sector B. Spencer was helping a young girl about 8 years old with dark brown hair walk into the cafeteria. She looked very frail and dainty. Almost a sickening skin tone.
Zoie grabbed my arm and rushed us back to our room. She looked as though she were going to throw up and pass out. her cheeks turned a blood red color, yet the rest of her skin was still that porceline fixture. I realized she never ate.
My stomache growled.
