Chapter 4: The First Time

“Black...Black Star...” Tsubaki was quivering. Something wasn’t right about him. There was a picture in Black Stars eye, like a star. Black Star looked worried. “I need to talk to you, please.” His voice was quivering, like he had been crying. Tsubaki nodded, the weapon and meister partner got up and walked up to the balcony where Black Star liked to sit.

 

When the two got to the balcony, Black Star leaned against the railing facing out and put his head down on his arms. “I don’t know what to do Tsubaki. I think I’m in love.” Tsubaki smiled softly. Just that reason enough explained why her partner, the incredibly brave Black Star, was acting so out of character. Tsubaki walked over to Black Star and put her arm around him. “How come it’s bugging you so much Black Star? Any girl would be lucky to have you!” Black Star shook his head. He closed his eyes tight and imagined.

 

He thought back to the time when he first arrived at the Death Weapon Meister Academy, . The first person he had talked to was Soul Eater. They were great friends from the start.

 

Black Star had always had a big ego, even at the age of 9. He remembered walking through the halls trying to find his class. While looking down at his map of the school, he bumped into another student. “Hey watch it!” Black Star looked up. He had never seen someone so...pale! “Sorry dude but you’re the one who should be watching out for someone like the incredible Black Star!!” The boy looked at Black Star and chuckled. He stuck his hand out to Black Star, “Names Soul, I’m a scythe, soon to be death scythe,” he said quite matter-of-factly. Black Star took his and and shook it firmly. “Black Star, only the greatest assassin out there. I’m going to surpass God one day. You got a partner yet?” Soul nodded.

“What class do you have?” Soul looked at Black Stars sheet. “Same as me!” the two young boys high-fived each other and started laughing. They linked arms and walked around the school, holding their heads high, proud to have found a new friend.

 

Black Star sighed, remembering the first time they had met. He shook his head. “Forget it.” He stood up straight and walked away, Tsubaki following. They were about to enter the class when the bell rang. They moved out of the way of the doorway so that the other students could exit without problem, but so that their friends would see them. When Maka and Soul exited the class, they did see them.

“Black Star!” They both shouted, Maka hugged him then slapped him. “That’s for making us worried sick about you!!” Behind Maka, Black Star saw Soul chuckle and stick his tongue out at Black Star. Soul didn’t show it, but on the outside was thankful that Black Star was okay. Kid, Liz and Patty were the last three out of the class room.

 “Ah, Black Star, I see you are back now.” Black Star laughed, “Of course I am! Where’dya think I’d go!” Kid shrugged. “Anyhow, is everyone still up for the beach tonight?” Everyone nodded. “I think we deserve a break from all this work,” stated Liz. “So where are we going to meet up? We all going together?” Liz looked at everyone.

 

“Well I’ll take Maka there, I only got room for one on my bike. So we’ll meet you all there. That okay?” Soul asked, which everyone was okay with. Soul and Maka left the group to figure out their own arrangements to the beach. When the two got home, Maka looked at Soul. “Apperantly there’s gonna be a bonfire tonight to celebrate the death of the kishin. We aren’t supposed to know but I heard the Death Scythes, Lord Death and Stein discussing it.” She smiled, “it should be fun!” Soul smiled and nodded.

After about half an hour, they were ready to go. They went outside and got onto Soul’s bike. Soul and Maka always loved going for rides. Soul liked the feeling of Maka’s hands around him, even though the didn’t have a thing going on, it made him feel good. He was always so protective of his partner, he always wanted her to be safe. Maka hugged him tighter. He smiled and continued to drive, happy about the night that was coming.

I'm sorry that this chapter is a little rushed but I promise I will make the next chapter much better! I'm really excited to write this upcoming part in the story! I hope you enjoy it! xo

Loved it, I'm curious to know if you take it to a level of only friendship or does black star have deeper feelings for soul, I loved how you introduced the beach scene :D and now i'm looking forward to know what this bonfire is all about and :P to seal it off with a bike ride with maka and soul, I as a reader am now getting into the characters and following them and I love where this is going, keep writing, Much love Kee.
