Two Roads

Two Roads

A Poem by Riley

Two roads, two ways
but which one should I choose?
I hoped, I prayed I picked the path
that led to you.
But what if it wasn't my
destiny,
To take the path in
front of me
I can always try another path,
and if it ends,
I'll go back to the beginning,
and start again.
I tried a path and it was
long,
All to find that it was
wrong.
I pushed and shoved at the end trying to
break a way through,
Fighting unbreakable barriers just
to stay with you.
Finally I have come
to see,
That we were never
meant to be.
Even though the journey back
was long,
It gave me time to think,
and grow strong.
I know that somewhere there's
gotta be,
A path that's made,
just for me.
I don't know how many ends
I will hit,
till I find the one that's worth
every bit,
of my journey to the one who'll wash
away my pain in their arms where
they'll hold me tight,
It's there when I'm soothed and immersed in
their warmth, love, and protection,
that I'll know I'll be alright.
But here I stand in front of two roads, two ways,
So which one should I choose,
I hope, I pray, I pick the one that makes
this dream come true.

i love this it could go on indefinitely first indecision, hesitiation then realisation, the hope, then back to indecision and hesitation.a beautiful circle and metaphor for the nature of life sometimes we know, sometimes we don't, sometimes we're happy to hope :)

The words of the Rolling Stones enter my mind "You can't always get want you want, but if you try sometimes you just might find you get what you need." Life has no guarantees and all we can do is make decisions best we can based on our knowledge... even the wrong choices are great learning experiences.

Some of us find many paths and they turn out to be dead ends. But if we keep searching, eventually we find the right one if we're lucky. I liked the rhymes used in this and the spices of alliteration. The Frost-like beginning was interesting too. I though you did a good job on this. Liked it.

Wonderful, absolutely brillant. I really enjoyed this poem and rhyme scheme. I tasted every line of every word and the nector was sweeter than the fruit that bared it.
Basically the meaning of the words was greater then the words itself
excellent write
