Loving YouA Poem by RileyA poem written to my husband.I was used to being used, but then came you. I figured you’d just be like all of them, leaving once their through. Sick of giving and giving, with nothing given back, Love, compassion, and honesty, is what they all lack. But you were a gentleman, but I didn’t see, Until the night I was drunk, and you tried no moves on me. Others would have taken advantage, trust me I know They have done it so many times; it’s like a rerun of a bad show. But it wasn’t even then, that I truly was able to care, It took quite some time to realize you were rare. But after that time, we fell together so great, It could only be this love that is given by fate. A life full of strife, blessed with a happy ending, It was you that did all the mending. I’m no longer that girl broken and torn, I feel like I have been completely reborn. You were the one, who picked up my pieces and placed me back together, So I know that you and I will last forever. Because I love you with all my heart, And you always loved me, right from the start.
