Dear Daddy

Dear Daddy

A Poem by Taylor Anne
"

a poem I wrote for my best friend to give to her father...

"

Tell me Daddy,

how is it you can hit me like this,

don't you see your reflection in my eyes,

have you forgotten the memories of holding me at the hospital,

can you no longer realize it is you that made me,

and it is your blood dripping onto the floor,

perhaps you have lost the feeling,

don't you recall telling me you love me,

is this really love,

because these tears do not feel as those of joy and care,

these are strips of pain streaming down my cheeks,

and they sting as they sink into the cuts and bruises covering my body,

so I write you a letter,

"Dear Daddy" I inscribe at the top,

I shall remind you of how things use to be,

and how this one night changed my life,

at the bottom I'll sign "your daughter",

to evoke thoughts of my now distant happiness,

please,

just hold me close,

tell me you're sorry,

it was a mistake,

and you'll do anything to make it better,

because I am still your little girl at heart.
