Untied Shoes

Untied Shoes

A Poem by Stacy Purvis

I could leave here tonight
Drive far away where no one knows my name
Get lost in a crowd
Somewhere between 10th and 12th downtown

Never come back, get my life on track.
Where did I go wrong?
When I wanted a symphony
I got another sad song.

Same old story…
Everyone’s looking for Love and Glory
Tripped on an old shoe lace
Ended up falling flat on my face.

This definitely hit a chord for me. I have been there so many times, I love how you brought this together and made it so poignant with the last line. I really enjoy your writing, you are extremely talented and have a lot of great content - keep it up!

Damn shoes. I liked and I understood the poem. Trying to escape and no place to escape to. Thank you Anastasia for sharing the amazing poetry.

Nicely written Anastasia, and lots of folk will readily connect with it. Lest you get too depressed about tripping, think of what happened in the movie 'Sliding Doors'. There may be a myriad of hiccups en route, but we generally get there.

'Same old story… Everyone’s looking for Love and Glory ... ' Tis the same old 'look at me' syndrome, yes?

Serious thought hidden tongue in cheek in finely laid words.. you so have a way of making eyes see and mind work.

"When I wanted a symphony

That sounds like 100% of my life, but at least the sad songs turn into my anthem of happiness.

Very nice poem...

The Symphony can be quite sad too you know? Sad songs always have a turning point. Velcro can be chic. This poem worked because of your personal references to places and things, i like when writers do that!
