Here I am, reaching out for your hand
I’ve turned it down before
But I know that was a horrible mistake
For that was pushing you away

So here I am trying
Trying my damnedest to get out of this
Out of my own head
To open up to you like I have never done before

All I am asking is that you be patient
I’m new to this
This whole letting someone fully in
I’m afraid of it

I’m afraid of you thinking of me as weak
Even though you promise you won’t
You beg for it, for me to let you in
You say it makes you feel useful

That in a relationship both partners should
Feel wanted and needed
That there should be no secrets,
Nothing but total honesty no matter what

No longer turning it down
Opening myself up to you like I’ve never done

I believe that’s what real love is though
Bringing out both sides of your partner
And sticking with them through the end
