desire

desire

A Poem by Melissa Rose
"

addiction

"

im on a

sinking

ship

waves are crashing

all around me

frigid water

just below

im scared

stuck on this boat

no lifejacket

no lifeboat

no escape

ive forgotton

how to swim

i want out so

dreadfully

but

i just cant bring myself

to make the jump

and hope i float

without aid

it seems id rather

stay on this

escort to my

destruction

You have to desire it to do it. But if you jump and are sincere there is a safety net of those that will see you through to success. To live with addiction is to be dead in all senses except the ones that keep you out of control. A dark writing that speaks volumes. You have written the words of those that live in the darkness of this enemy. Addiction to anything drugs, food or love gives over your control to something that will eventually destroy. This is like peeking into the mind of one that has an addiction and the running sign that continually flashes this distress signal.
