Stainless Steel China

Stainless Steel China

A Poem by xlovehatealicex

Lace upon lace of red ribbon
What shall i do with it?
I see a dismembered body
Red ribbons once covered this skeleton
Now nothing more than a waste
Once handled with violence and bruises
A caged bird with no way out
Its only shelter was that beautiful red ribbon
Lace upon lace of red ribbon
What shall i do with it?
That dismembered body wants it back
Its only shelter
For that caged crow wants protection
No more violence
The bruises have dissappeared
Now flying away as a dove
Watch that cage fall and shatter into pieces

I like the repetition in your poems. It creates a good flow and links everything together, in my opinion.

Though, I agree with the other comment.. I'm not sure the significance of the title. In a way it seems like the china represents the bird, caged up so that it won't fly away (you never really use china because you're afraid it will break). In the end, the cage shatters, and the crow is transformed into a beautiful dove, as if the cage is no longer needed for protection because the dove is strong enough on its own. It's like stainless steel china; you pull it out from whatever cloth you wrapped it in or cabinet where you kept it because, now, you're not afraid of it breaking. And maybe the china/bird is a metaphor for yourself or somebody/something else. Or I'm completely wrong. That works too.

Great poem! The only thing I didn't get was the title. It really didn't match the poem to me. Other then that it was great.
