A Love PoemA Poem by AméMay 12, 2009I. I’ve walked with you on
many days / I’ve thought of you in many ways In many streets, in sun and rain / in peace and turmoil, joy and pain The large, the deep, the
beautiful / the large, the deep, the plentiful The moon that never will
wane / the river rushing through the plain II. Blue-slippered feet on
drying grass / hands held, we inch through broken glass We’ve not yet travelled
very far / we’ll travel thus forevermore The young, the lost, the
much-in-love / we cast our eyes far, far above The journey to a future
star / and yet, remain here, as we are III. I’m lost completely to
your lips / I love your eyes, and fingertips Whenever your voice finds its way to my ear / I wish and I wish, and I wish you were here So warm, this charm: and crystalline / so fraught with this thought (for with you I’m divine) That the star in the river
glows fiery and clear / that our ship in the sky is no challenge to steer © 2011 Amé |
