Numb

Numb

A Poem by Hopeless Desire

The sharp edge of the razor cuts my skin easily.

I am numb to the pain,

numb to the blood.

To numb to realize
what is happening,

to realize what i'm doing.

one cut follows another,

and another,

until i can't stop.

The razor falls from my hand,

Blood drips down my arm,

tears roll down my face.

Intense. I love it. It's sort of disturbing, in the good way.

Rather gripping poem.
Intense in its brevity.

This is a very intense, and powerful piece, and relays much pain, anger, and hurt. Great job, and thank you so much for sharing this.

very nice write, i can relate to alot of these feelings. i too, am usually numb to the pain. and your authors note is true for many people. they aren't emo, that is a stereotype that no one deserves, they're in pain, pain that seems unbearable. just remember that life is good, and things have to get bad before they can get better. thank you for a great read.

I had a friend who was a cutter an adult who actually felt the bleeding took the pain of the world away, the said there was release in the bleeding. I don't completely understand it but my heart goes out to those who feel they need to do it. You have described to a tee how they first described the first time they tried it to me. That you can relate these emotions on paper or computer means I hope you have control of it. Thank you for sharing this.
