I'll Meet You At The Top

I'll Meet You At The Top

A Poem by Alias

I'm sorry
I can't help you right now
I'm sorry
I can't listen to your heartache
Truth is
We're both hanging by our fingertips
and though I see your fingers bleeding
and though I hear your tears streaming
If I offer you my hand
I will fall
But
If we shut our eyes to the drop below
maybe we can pull ourselves up.
God knows,
I hope so.

ultimately, we must help ourselves - cannot allow others to drag us down as well. we're all fighting our own battles. we should focus on the solution rather than the problem and not be afraid. we are of no use to others unless we are strong ourselves. i love the title. there is truth and hope in this ...

This one has so many realities and nows within it... and yet I know how often I've still "fallen" while trying anyway.

Some words have captured the laws of human beings, especially the one about shutting eyes and pulling ourselves up. Good one

I liked the drive and the hope in the words. Reaching for the top can be hard work and effort. The flow of thoughts led to honest ending. Thank you my friend for sharing the amazing poetry.

Such a powerful image I loved every word.
I couldn't help but imagine two people heartbroken by previous partners but wanting to heal so they could build a relationship together with a clean emotional slate.

I wrote it about 2 friends struggling with mental health, but your interpretation works really well .. read more
Wow. This really resonates with me. Sometimes we don't notice that helping others kills us as well. This is wonderfully done.
