Lonely

Lonely

A Poem by Alias

The greatest lie is love,

because I bleed for it so desperately.

Surrounded by people I am alone,

I have always wanted only one.

I give love freely, expectantly,

I am loved and lovable.

My isolation is my own,

unshared with all my many friends,

unknown to all my loved ones

I do not want it, I hate it.

But it lives inside me,

and when it is threatened rears its head.

I am impatient to be cured, release me.

Save me.

Take the time to understand me

when I cannot understand myself.

Hold me, always.

Be near me and a part of me.

All I ask is all you have,

but I will make a fair return.

I wrote something with a similar theme on another account but I won't tell you what it is. :) Being lonely is no fun, especially when everywhere you go you see happy couples walking hand in hand and wonder if you'll ever get to that place.

For some though, it's a matter that goes beyond a significant other. There's a darkness that doesn't go away even with friends or family. I've felt this many times and I don't like it. Your emotional plea is not lost on me. We each have a journey to go through in life. Sometimes its a lonely one. I wish you luck and wellness.

Very good poem. Your emotion is clearly displayed and it was quite and enjoyable read. The only thing I would suggest is to just space the lines out some more. They are clumped up right now and it makes it a little hard on the eyes when one tries to read it.

One of the more personally charged and realistic views I've heard - based on my perception of so many other's voices.

Through your words I can see your insecurities, the ones we struggle with daily. A fake smile to put those we love at peace, while in our solitude we wait for a love so real can look beyond the fear loneliness.

Another good work. I watched a stray dog the other day, wandering about an empty ship yard. I couldn't help feel some sort of empathy for that poor animal. Humans wander about large cities, surrounded by multitudes, yet still feel lonely. How sad.

The best poetry causes the reader to pause and think. You are good at that. Keep writing.

The loneliness of life can be very painful and while having others around to support you will help, the final control of your life good or bad falls to you. Somethings in life like loneliness are one of the crosses of life we bear. We can give in a fail or forge on and overcome the pain of the darkness that is loneliness.

Very nice piece. Keep up the writing.

It read just fine in my opinion.
A very deep and relatable work. The pain, the imposed loneliness and the needs are felt.
