Blank Stares

Blank Stares

A Poem by oranges_melt
"

We are all equal!

"

Dear Diary,

look, there is this bee,

that I keep to look and see,

and he's black and yellow too,

there is nothing he can't do,

see, he likes to buzz around,

he likes to touch the ground,

he likes to sniff the pollen,

when on the ground--it's fallen,

I'd like to name him Fred,

nothing much more said,

he doesn't need much to live,

there is nothing much to give,

he reminds me of a friend,

to stare blankly he will tend,

he was mentally retarded,

by his mother he was guarded,

when he had my heart,

it hurt to be apart,

because he was once like me,

but then he paid the fee,

he was hit against the head,

there is nothing to be said,

and I loved him both ways too,

that's why I keep his shoe,

when he had died,

it hurt bad inside,

that's why I like this bee,

because you got to look to see,

so I let this bee go free,

he goes back to live and see,

and if Fred would have died,

I know I would have cried.
