Chapter Two: Just a Little Bit Longer

Jesse's POV

Jesse: (Walks into the bathroom and splashes water onto her face)

I wonder what happened to Roe. She didn't show up for chemistry. Mr. Alcotach didn't seem very please when he called out her name and she wasn't there for the third time this week... What could be more important then school right now? Perhaps she was studying in the library. Well at least I was there to-

*Creekkkkk*

Jesse: What the- (turns around and sees Roe climbing out of the window) Roe!?

Roe: (Falls face first onto the floor) Goddammit! (Rubs nose)

What is she doing? Why is she sneaking in from the bathroom window? Unless....

Jesse: OMG! Roe, did you skip class?

Roe: (makes a WTF face) what is it to you if I did?

Jesse: Well it's not a very good thing to do. And you skipped two classes on top of that. If anyone caught you, you could be in really big trouble and senior year is a very important year. You should be attending all your classes...

Seeing her expression sort of frightened me so I decided to stop talking...

Roe: Heh. Look, I'm flattered you actually give a s**t about me, but reeeeaaaaally I DON'T want you to give a s**t about me. I'm gunna do whatever the hell I want and get in trouble for whatever I do. So please just leave me ALONE! I mean seriously! WHY DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND THAT I DON'T WANT TO TALK TO YOU!?

I didn't really know what to say to that.

Jesse: (forces a smile out of herself) Urmmm, oh- okay. (Quietly) Oh but Roe.

Roe: Just shut up, okay? (School Bell rings) School is over and I have nothing else to talk to you about.

Jesse: ...

Why is she like that? I just want to be her friend. She seems to lonely. Seeing her that way... It reminds me of me back at Anderson High. When everyone used to ignore me. Why does she keep pushing me away?

Roe: (leaves the bathroom)

Sigh... She really is a handful. OH! I forgot to tell her!

Jesse: Oh wait. Ro- (Coughs into hands)

Oh no... Not now... Please not now. Oh lord. Couldn't you wait just a little bit longer. At least till I reached home? Where are you John?

John's POV

       S**t. I'm late again! Jesse is going to murder me. Or worse... She'll take away my comic books! I can't let her do that. Stupid legs! RUN FASTER, WOULD YA?! OHMYGAWD~

       Yes. I. Finally. Made. It.

John: Jesse? (Looks around but school premises is empty) Where could that girl be? (Rushes into the school to see it completely empty) where the hell am I suppose look for her? (Slips hands through hair in worry) (Sees Roe coming out of a hallway)

Oh! It's that girl from earlier. Maybe she knows Jesse!

John: HEY! You! Girl with the really bitchy mood!

Roe: (looks up from iPod) Ohmyfu-(Eyes wide) Who the hell are you! Are you seriously stalking me?

John: Wait what? No! Like I actually have that much time on my hands! Never mind that now. Do you know someone named Jessica Orthdan? Or well... Jesse?

Roe: (Confused) Yeah... but..

John: (relived) Great! When was the last time you saw her? 

Roe: WHAT? Why are you asking this? Who are you?

I really don't have the patience or time for this right now. Why can't she just answer my damn questions quickly? Seriously. What was I thinking before?!

John: (Angry) JUST TELL ME THE LAST TIME YOU SAW HER!

Roe: (Taken back) Oh, uh, Well... Girls bathroom, next to room 135B.

John: THANK YOU! (Runs off)

Room 129B, Room 130B, Room 131B, Room 132B, Room 133B, Room 134B, Room 135B! THANK THE LORD! 

John: (Knocks on door) JESSE! JESSE!!

Jesse: JOHN!? (rushes out)

John: (Hugs Her) (Sigh of relief)

She's pale... Really pale...

John: Am I that late?

Jesse: A bit (smiles then starts coughing a bit rougher) You should have been here before the last bell rung.

John: Oh here (hands her a bag) your medicine is in there with a bottle of water.

Jesse: You do know this is going to cost you. 

John: Sigh... Yes, yes. I know. Now come on. Let's go home. We gotta take the bus today. My car's in the shop. Damn belt broke. Anyway, since it'll take some time, I'll tell you about my weird day. Oh! And I met this really weird girl. She's really angry and thinks I'm some pedophile stalker. She's a strange one...

Jesse: (laughs) Really? Did you catch her name?

John: Oh. No, I never got to ask her name. She goes to your school though. It was from her I found out you were in the bathroom. Maybe you know her.

Jesse: Maybe I do. But you should have asked her name. It's like some mystery girl now. (Smiles)

Yeah. I really should of asked her her name.

Roe's POV

That guy is weird. I really hope I never have to see him again. And he called me "girl with a bitchy mood". I mean, what's that about?

Roe: (Starts pouting)

 I wonder who he was though. I've never seen him before... but then again, I don't really go out much to see people anyway. How did he know Jesse?

And Jesse! God. That girl! Why won't she just let me be? I feel flat on my face because of her! And my nose still hurts. I bet she was the one that told Mr. Alcotach that I was present today cause he have me a 15 minute lecture after I came out of the classroom. Then he said if I don't show up to every one of his classes from now on, he was going to fail me and something about a project. I stopped listening about there.

Well whatever. I'll go to class to please the teachers and be on my way. Today is over now anyway. Finally, I'm home. 

Roe: (Unlocks door to apartment) Hi, mom, dad, Neo. (Smiles at picture) Today was such an annoying day. (sighs) But I'm glad to finally be home. (presses button on phone)

-You've got one missed call and one voice-mail-

Hmm? It must be from Laura.

Roe: (presses play) 

-Message from Laura-

Laura: Hey, sis. How are you? How's school and work going? I'm sorry I haven't called in a while. Dávid and I are having a blast in Paris. You really should have come. It would have been fun. Ya know, sister bonding! (laughs) I would have called on your cell but I figured you were at school and i didn't want to bother you when your studying. Call me back later, okay? Or maybe I'll just call back later tonight. Oh! And by the way, I'll be back on the 5th. Just in time for the 3 year anniversary. We'll go together this year, okay? I love you, Bye.

I love stories where the main character is closed up and slowly lets people in. I like what you did in the last part of this chapter, the way you showed that Roe's sister is living in denial, while Roe is carrying the pain for the both of them.

Im glad you were able to see that:D Roe is suppose to be sort of like... a rock. Very rutted towards the ground carrying what she feels is her "resolution" but in reality its just her misery.
