Letting Go

Sometimes I wonder if I wrote this for the friend I have going through a divorce, or about my own relationship.

Of a woman with much on her mind
A love that should last forever
Seems to drift more and more behind
The glimmer that brought me to you
Seems to have melted away
And although I still do love you so
There’s not much more to say
I don’t want you to ever leave me
I don’t want to be alone
But seeing you so unhappy
Makes me want to let you go
So I’ll stand here and pretend
That my love for you has left
