A Cutter's Lullaby

A poem about fighting self harm :: I will win, not immidietly, but definatly.

Sit back, and close your eyes,
Drop the blade,
Such a sweet disguise..

It’s the pain that keeps
You going,
It keeps you alive,
It masked the pain,
You feel so deep inside…

You watch the crimson
Pour from your arm,
And tears fill you with
Alarm.

What do I do?
How do I fix this?

See the that’s the thing
With self-harm,
You think your controlling it,
But before long,
It takes control over you.

But now I’ve
Gathered up my
Strength,
And I’m back in control.

I’ll battled my demons,
Slipped out of every noose,
And now there’s nothing
You can use.

Nothing you can hurt me
With,
So get out of my way,
I don’t need you.

It’s about strength,
Focus,
And staying determined,

This…

Wow this is great! It really shows the true pain inside, and its so messy and no fun. I completely understand and this brought me to tears! I think poems like this helps people who judge and don't understand, comprehend the pain. Which is extremely difficult to do (its hard to get people to change a view they've had of something). I love the dignity in the last two stanzas too. Great work!

I really have to commend you on your bravery of sharing something so personal as this, fighting your own personal demons, like all of us, we have our own demons to fight, maybe not cutting but other demons. Onto this poem...once again your choice of words and how you arrange them within your writings shows us what an amazing writer you truly are. I cannot even quote one line on this as being my favorite because this whole poem is a wonderful write. I enjoyed reading your words as they unfolded from such helpless darkness to being able to see a positive light. Beautiful the song goes so perfectly with it as well. Hinder - Save Me being one of my favorite tracks by them. This is exactly what you needed to do, write about it, write about the fight you have every day to control it and stay away from it. Feel proud about how beautiful it is, how strong you are. I know i'm proud of you. This was epic and written so well. You are awesome sauce.
