"
It was a rainy, dark and stormy night when I found the poor child. She was sat curled up against the wall of an alleyway, three older teenagers, (I figured around the ages of 16, 17 and 18), were standing around her, taunting her and kicking her.

Approaching them, I pushed the closest one aside. ''Get away from her!'' I growled angrily. I was hit from behind, spinning around I tripped him. He fell with a thud, with the sound of splashing water.

The other two came at me. I could tell they were drunk, I could smell the aroma of beer on their breaths. Kicking one in the stomach, I pinned the other to the wall, throwing punches in his face.
As I was pounding his face in, I was suddenly pulled off, and thrown to the ground.

I quickly got up, and vanished atop a railing.
The goons looked around confused. But soon figured they'd won and re-approached the girl.
I swiftly, glided from the railing, landing quietly behind them.

Pulling them back, one by one, I sank my teeth into their necks.
Only to paralyze them, till I had a chance to come back and feed.

Turning my focus to the child I found that I had missed one of them.
Although, when I looked at my doings, there were three.
The fourth one must've just arrived.

Approaching him, I made sure I kept quiet.
And I was dang sure I was, and there was no light to cast off a shadow, but just as I was arms length from the guy, he quickly turned around, and grabbed my throat.

He walked forward, switching our positions, pushing me back against the wall.
I glanced down at the girl, she was still balled up, her hair soaking wet, covering her face.
I looked back at the guy, his breath smelling of smoke. Cigarette smoke.

''Long time no see, isn't it, child?'' He said gruffly.
There was only one person I knew, who had a gruff voice, and always smelled of cigarette smoke.
Grabbing hold of his wrist, I tore it from my throat, quickly moving from his trap.

''Not long enough.'' I growled menacingly.
A stream of soft cackles escaped his shadowed form. I could hear the sound of soft whimpers, and sent a worried glance at the girl. Hoping she'd shush, so his attention wouldn't return to her.

But I knew she was scared. I'd been in a situation like her's before. I knew how she felt.
Turning my attention back to the guy, I quickly got behind him, kicking him as hard as I could.
He fell forward, landing hard on his hands and knees.

I pounced on him, pinning him to the ground, and bit into his neck, ripping the flesh from his shrivelled throat.
He screeched out in pain, thrusting me back. I jumped off, landing swiftly on my feet.
I watched as he staggered to his feet, holding tight to his bleeding neck.

But just as he got to his feet, he suddenly fell forward.
Dead.
I stared, for a moment, at the dead body, before pulling the three teen bodies into a pile, sitting them up-right, their bodies limp.
I left the other guy in a dumpster.
Wiping the blood from my mouth, I turned back to the girl.
She was still there. I approached her, kneeling down.

She lifted her head and almost jumped in fear.
''No no. It's alright. I won't hurt you. And neither will the bad guys.'' I said.
She looked up at me with terrified eyes. Terrified...yellow eyes.
In an instant she wrapped her arms around my neck, squeezing tight.

I slowly stood, lifting her into my arms.
Glancing back at the 3 dead meals, I smirked to myself.
I won't go hungry tonight.

I walked down the damp streets, the rain still pouring heavily.
Luckily with my strengths, the girl did not begin to feel heavier.
So carrying her a long distance would be effortless.

Walking through the lobby, and up the elevator to my apartment, I quickly dried the girl off, putting her on one of Blaze's button down shirts, and dried her undies, letting her into the bathroom to put them on.

I tucked her into my bed, reassuring her she was safe.
As soon as she was asleep, I left through the window, gliding down from the third floor.
Racing back to the alleyway, I found that my victims were still there.
I checked their pulses. The first two had stopped, but the last was still going, although at a slow pace.

I decided against feeding from him, knowing his heart would soon stop, and I'm not up for loosing my life. Not yet, anyway.
Peeking into the dumpster, I found that the guy was gone. Figures. His goons must have had come to retrieve him. Man did they get a surprise. I chuckled to myself.

I left, back to my apartment. I figured if I walked through the lobby doors, people would question, so I quickly climbed up the side of the building. Although, as I climbed through the window, I caught Blaze standing over the girl, his fangs inches from piercing her skin.

''What are you doing?!'' I hissed, sure to keep quiet.
Blaze quickly looked up at me.
''About to feed.'' He said in an, it‘s-obvious, tone.
''No you're not. She is not food, Blaze.'' I said approaching the girl. ''I rescued the poor girl from bandits like you.''

''I am not a bandit.'' He said.  ''And why is she in my shirt?''
''Because it's the biggest shirt I could find. Plus it's too small for you and you never wear it.''
He folded his arms. ''Very well.''  Sitting on his bed, he pulled out a book. ''How long is she here?''
''Just until I find where she migrated.'' I said, stroking her hair.
''Tomorrow, I presume?'' Blaze said, flipping through the book.

''Precisely.''
''Good. Because I, unlike you, am not a fan of children.''
''You were once a child yourself, Blaze.'' I said.  ''And still act of one now.'' I mumbled to myself.
''What was that?'' He asked, curiously, looking over the edge of his book.
''Oh nothing.'' I said, innocently, peeking over my shoulder at him.

As soon as I'd said that, I was instantly pulled back and pinned to Blaze's bed.
''I am not a child.'' He said with a smirk.
''I'm getting the signs of some really child like tendencies.'' I said. ''Plus you're only 24, not long ago you were a child.''

''Hmmm.'' He said, his eyes narrowing. He stood up, pulling me up with him.
''Now leave me be. I need to shower. I smell like a wet dog after a blood bath.'' I said heading towards the bathroom. ''And don't harm the girl.'' I warned.

The hot water burned my skin, even the warm did, so as always I had to take a cold shower.
I missed taking hot showers, and writing on the mirrors threw the condensation the steam made.
But I guess that's one of the gifts that come with being a vampress.

Leaving the bathroom, a towel around my body, I headed towards the bureau.
The girl was still asleep. I checked her pulse.
''Don't worry. I didn't even touch her.'' Blaze said, his eyes closed, and his hands behind his head.
''Just checking.'' I said, and approached the bureau.

Opening and closing the drawers, I pulled out a T-shirt, a pair of black slacks, and a fresh pair of matching underclothes.
I re-entered the bathroom, freshening up and dressing, brushing my teeth last.

Leaving the bathroom, I pulled the covers off the girl, laying her lightly on her back.
I checked her cuts. Pulling the bandages from them, I found that they had all healed, leaving no scar in it‘s place.
Furrowing my brows, I stared in confusion.
How could her wounds heal within a matter of a couple hours?
Or did they heal sooner?

Checking the rest of her body, I found all wounds healed.
Throwing away the blood stained bandages, I washed my hands, and turned off the light.
''Strange girl, isn't she?'' Blaze said, sending a glance my way.
I replied with a, ''Hnh.'', sitting in the desk chair.

''You think she's one of us?'' He asked.
''...We'll find out when she wakes tomorrow morning.'' I said.
''Don't you mean this morning?'‘
I looked at the clock, it read just after 2 a.m.  ''Whatever.'' I said.

''So how was the family?'' I asked.
''Dead.'' He said with a smirk.
''Ha-Ha, very funny.'' I said.
He laughed. ''Well in truth, Danny has been throwing fire balls at Rinny all week. Her freezing his feet to the ground. Mom and dad, both, as vampryc as ever.'' He said.  ''Any luck finding your parents?''

I sighed. ''I didn't even try. I decided to go to a local bar instead. And don't worry, I didn't drink. Not alcohol, anyway.''
''Hnh. Sounds like you had some...fun.'' He winked.
''Yeah. Fun. As in, finding a poor girl almost raped or killed by 3 drunks and an old...'' I looked up at Blaze, who was staring at me with listening eyes. ''..friend.'' I said through gritted teeth.

''Friend, eh?''   Not really.  ''The situation doesn't sound so cool, but, at least you were there to help. And by the blood on your clothes, it looked like you put up a vicious fight. Or feeding. Whatever you prefer.''

''I prefer neither.'' I said. ''I prefer to change the subject.''
''To what? There's nothing more interesting then talking about a heroine rescue?''
''Stop being sarcastic, Blaze. Before I throw fire balls at you.''
''You challenging me?''
''No I'm changing the subject.'' I smirked.
He laughed, and then quickly stopped, when the sound of shuffling sheets occurred.

''I guess it's time we both held out for the night.'' I said.
''Awe, but it was just getting fun.'' He whispered.
''Hnh.'' I smirked crossing my arms.

This is very well written and laid out, mortal, very impressed. I particularly liked the characters, they were very interesting indeed. I wonder just who the kid is, I suppose I'll find out soon when I read on. A very good story going on here, I am looking forward to reading more~

You write well, but some of the word choice feels very archaic - which is how I generally speak anyway...
