A servant's Fate?~Chapter 1~

Hello? I shouted into the house, holding a bag of groceries. I passed the moody teenager sitting on the couch unseen. He didn’t even see the bag… figures, he didn’t until I set it down.

“I’m in here, Gilly~” I smiled, getting a response, and set the bag down, walking in, taking a backward glance at the teen. He was confused…like always. But he shook his head, and looked back down, mumbling. Normally I’d ignore him, but the words stung today.

“This pretending’s gone on for way too long…”

Of course he thinks it’s pretending. He’ll probably call her insane next. My Mistress is not insane…I know that for a fact…blind…but not insane…

I take a breath, and walk in, forcing a smile.

“How are you today, Miss?” I hide the crack in my voice with a singsong tone, and she smiles brightly. I really do love that smile…

“I’m good.” She smiles. It’s nice, really, to see her this happy today.  I wont question it. I simply smile, and ruffle her hair… but… she shudders. She never shutters.. I frown, pulling back.

“What’s…wrong miss?” She looks up at me, almost as if she can’t see me for a second, then she blinks, and smiles.

“Nothing…just…cold.” I frown. I don’t have the heart to tell her the truth.

“Oh, then I suppose you’re not in the mood for ice cream today?” Now that I’ve said the magic words, all signs of sadness will be doused today. Good.

           

            Young Adult of age 20 found dead this morning, 5am East Central time, in the Anderson River. The body was identified as Canadian citizen, Gilander Fredricks. Victim was confirmed to be occupied as a servant for Vivian Marks, age 50, and prime suspect. The body was found beaten, bruised, and starved. In the chest area, there was nothing but a jagged hole, where his heart used to be.

 

I shuddered, and put down the clipping. This will be the last time I look at it…the reminder of my death… She’ll never find it after tonight. And I’ll never have to worry…
