Feeling Pretty Lonely.

I wrote it in December . . .

I'm feeling pretty lonely,
And I'm feeling kind of sad.
I'm feeling really isolated,
Which would usually make me glad.

I'm feeling pretty lonely,
And I want someone here.
I want someone to hold my hand,
And wipe away my tears.

But that someone doesn't exist,
And my hand is very cold.
A story with an unexpected twist,
An extra chapter that's untold.

I'm feeling pretty lonely,
So will you walk with me tonight?
If you're next to me, I can pretend,
That everything's all right.

I promise I'll look pretty,
You wear your best, I'll wear mine.
We can stand outside forever,
And forget about time.

This silence is unbearable,
The air is much too still.
My hands are violently shaking,
Wishes unfulfilled.

I'm feeling pretty lonely,
As I sit here in the snow.
No one noticed that I've left,
Perhaps it's best that no one knows.

A very doleful write. Flows superbly. Seems very much like a song. That last stanza was especially sad, and I loved it. I am always one for melancholic writes. I love those lines, too, "I'm feeling really isolated,
Which would usually make me glad." Sweet sentiment, even those who delight in isolation and solitude can revert to the feeling of loneliness. What prompts the this change, I wonder? Was the enjoyment in isolation really a facade, reality bound to eventually reveal her face, thus, the crushing feelings of loneliness to inevitably follow? Or is it just a change, as one gets older? Lovely write!!
