Mirror

I really loved the song Mirror by Lil' Wayne ft. Bruno Mars so I wrote this based on that!

MIRROR

I stare at myself. It’s time to remove my mask.

Years of bitterness reflect in my pupils.

Every scar has made its mark on me.

 Each turn on the road of life has resulted in the hatred in my fingers.

Life equals struggle.

 People think me proud, but all I do is to hide my pain.

You understand me, my only true friend. Myths say that mirrors confiscate a man’s soul- it is true.

You all call me a liar- can you see an inkling of the truth hidden under every word?

I have many companions but I am still alone.

 You tell me if what I am doing is okay, and I can feel the scars of guilt below the blanket of shame.

I am becoming more like HIM. Will I become HIM?

People take painkillers. I take marijuana.

My soul is corrupted. I see that from the distorted image on a broken mirror. I can look good this way.

I am tired of this. I want to change. I know you’re behind me Ma, I remember your smile.

It’s time.

I turn away from it, slide my mask into place and walk away. My reflection smiles at me.

I liked this because a lot of people can relate to it. When i read it, and it could just be me, but when I read it the mask that you talk about wasn't a mask when I pictured it. You know how you always see stuff these days about how teenagers are hiding their true feelings with a smile? Well, that is what i got out of this, but this is good because it also shows the internal confict of the situation as well. I also liked that you put the mother in it as well because I believe that everyones mother is their consciences (sp?). They are that voice in our head that tell us right from wrong.

Anyways, this is overall pretty well written.
