Silent Spring

Silent Spring

A Poem by Tori
"

When you know you're good enough.

"

Hush.
Listen to the world around you.
It's nearly silenced today
The snow falls down all around
And blankets the ground
Soundproof.
Heatproof.
The ice storm dances the night away
And you're standing outside
Sitting in the snow
Enchanted, entranced...
And even the warmth in your eyes is freezing over.
Winter's got a hold on you.
Unrelenting, unchanging
Like icicles on power lines
Winter could pull you right down.
Your heart is already cold.
Frozen.
But--
Hush.
Because I am Spring
And I'm right around the corner.
Winter's taking its toll on you
But soon
So, so soon...
I will take your hand and lead you away
To a place where the ice can melt
Snow can blow away on a gentle breeze
And you'll be left with nothing but sun
And flowers
And lush, green grass.
I promise you I'll take you there.
Soon.
So soon.
Just
Hush.
I'm waiting for this storm to end.
For gentle warmth and pretty flowers
Are simply no match for
Ice and
Snow and
Hail and
A constant feeling of cold.
But I promised you I'd take you away
And soon
So soon
I will.
