PrologueA Chapter by The Hopeless RomanticI could hear the waves crashing against the shore as the tide rolled in and out. As I walked barefoot down the deserted beach, I had this weird feeling that something was different...this town, this summer...me. I could feel tingling all through my body starting at my fingers and running all the way down through my toes. This summer was going to be different. I didn't know if it was the slight breeze blowing through my thin dress or the peaceful sounds echoing up around me. The seagulls were all communicating to each other and the crickets were starting up their nightly song. It felt peaceful. It felt nothing like it did back home, in the freezing snow, where all I ever heard was my parents fighting through the thin doors, the smashing of a vase being thrown at the wall. I liked it here...so much that I haven't even been here a day and I already never want to leave. I somehow seem to forget about all the drama back home and that I'm staying in someone's house whom I have never even met. I looked down at my feet and watched the sand as tiny footprints appeared below me as I walked down the beach, only to be washed away by the water rushing around my feet and through my toes. I looked up at the big full moon as I sighed to myself. I took a deep breath of the salty ocean air, started smiling a huge smile to myself, then continued to walk down the beach until everything behind me disappeared without a trace. © 2015 The Hopeless RomanticAuthor's Note
