A Poem by Brandon

At a glance

I see your face

I must have been lost

Or been misplaced

You left me as a child

What could I have done

You start to come closer

I start to run

I’d rather not see you

I need you no more

You destroyed my heart

As I was lying on the floor

Crying hours at a time

Sometimes I wish I could have known

What did I do wrong?

You never got to watch me grow

You’ve tried to get in touch

You want to make amends

The relationship between you and I

Has come to an end

Just stay out of my life

Like you have until now

Don’t worry mom

You'll survive somehow

I must say thbutat I am truly feeling this piece for a few reasons. Reason number one is that most times the person that is an absentee parent is the father so I love the change of view. Second reason is that this is happening more and people say that there has to be a relationshiup withg both parents but i dont feel there does.Great piece sometimes that relationship can be more harmful then helpful. Great Piece.

Sad piece, but inspirational in a sense that you're able to move on and learn from bad experiences. I particularly like when you used repetition for example at the end of the second stanza, "You start to come closer / I start to run" very beautiful. However, I don't necessarily know that rhyme is needed here and towards the end of the poem it sounds a bit forced. Otherwise, I liked reading this. :)

Actually, this would fit my life perfectly. My mom left me (and my dad) when I was about 6 months old. NIcely done for someone who has not lived it. You captured that feeling well.
