Be You

Be You

A Poem by Brandon

As I try to figure you out

You continue to frown on me

For the person in your life

That I can’t be

I like who I am

I don’t want to change

What is the point?

To make me feel strange

Trying to be

Someone I am not

If I am a story

This isn’t my plot

There’s a phrase I’ve heard

It states, just to be you

I have no need for change

So to that I stay true

This is an awesome piece! It must have felt so freeing to write it. Others have no right to try to change us, especially when we don't want to be changed. This is powerful!

About
Well to start off, I just started writing a little while back. I just decided to write one day out of pure boredom. Well I ended up writing 2 poems that day, and I got a very good response from them. .. more..
