In the purest of forms

Like roses in a garden

Like lightning in a storm

The gentle kisses

The sweetest goodnight

The caressing compassion

And love at first sight

The heartfelt emotions

The way it makes you feel

Love is an art

And a love that is  real

I adore this poem. I love the contrasting images of roses in a garden, and lighting in a storm. I have a suggestion to make though - perhaps change the last line to read "And a love that is real" (try taking out the 'very'). When I read the poem out loud, it seems to flow better without the extra syllable. Lovely write!

This is a very common subject. Love is an art is becoming an extremly trite phrase these days, but I think you do ok in justifying yourself. Your poem flows nicely; it isn't choppy or confusing. It really draws the reader in to learn about the flowers, the lightning, and the kisses. I think you did a good job in trying to make people remember that "Love is an art" is an actually action and feeling, not just some catchy phrase.

"And love at first site" --- Site should be sight.
